"I learned something interesting today, Stephen," Brian said, waltzing into Stephen's office as though he owned the place. Stephen would've been indignant about that, if not for the fact that he couldn't help but admire the man’s mixture of grace and balls.

He arched an elegant eyebrow, crossing his arms challengingly. There was something about the tone of Brian's voice and the expression on his face that was putting him on the defensive. "What?" he asked.

Brian smiled. "Something about some very curious comments you've been making," he paused, "about me."

Stephen swallowed. Brian was throwing him off-kilter, and he didn’t know what to do about that. "What's the matter, Williams?” he challenged imperiously. “Can't handle a hot and hard serving of the Truth?"

"Well, Stephen," Brian started, slowly moving closer, and Stephen shuddered involuntarily when he realized Brian had backed him up against the wall. Considering the man's height and build, he was pretty sure he wouldn’t be able to overpower him. That thought absolutely did not turn him on. "The thing is, at first, I thought you were just being a pest."

He opened his mouth to object, but Brian shook his head, and Stephen fell silent, though he wasn't quite sure why. "I thought I'd just ignore it. Then I happened to mention it to a friend." He smiled. "A friend you and I have in common, as a matter of fact. He told me, quote, 'That's all part of Stephen's mating ritual. He's trying to get you to notice him. It's a slightly more adult way of pulling on your pigtails.'" Brian pushed closer, and Stephen let out a gasp—a manly gasp, of course! It wasn't his fault that Brian was so strong and imposing and confident and in control and...shake it off, Col-bert!

Brian smirked. "I thought I'd come and see if he was right." He gripped Stephen's wrists, pushing them over his head and pinning them there, against the wall. "It seems that he was."

Stephen couldn't help it. He moaned. "Brian."

"Yes, Stephen?"

"I—I want—"

"Oh, don't worry. There will be plenty of time for that later." He smirked again. "Right now, though, there's the matter of punishment."

A little shiver went down his spine at that word. "Punishment?" he asked weakly.

"You didn't think I was just going to let those comments go, did you? No." Brian shook his head. "Definitely not."

Stephen gulped.

Achieving so much sexy with nary a stitch of clothing removed--that's quite a feat!

'That's all part of Stephen's mating ritual. He's trying to get you to notice him. It's a slightly more adult way of pulling on your pigtails.'

Is Jon speaking from personal experience--or merely as a casual observer? ;)

But yeah that line sums up "Stephen" quite well!

Stephen is quite transparent

I guess that's what makes him tolerable (lovable?) despite his "Stephen"-ness. Whatever zany thing he cooks up, it's almost always innocent somehow. :)
