Stephen’s running.
He hates this nightmare—he’s had it before. Seeing his salvation up ahead, a bright white light, he races toward it, not daring to look back. Something bad is back there, chasing him, trying to tempt him, ruin him, get him to sin.
Inevitably, he trips, and then he’s falling, falling, falling into darkness and nothingness and now he’s screaming—
“Stephen!”
He wakes with a start, looking into Jon’s concerned blue eyes. “Nightmare?” he asks softly, and Stephen nods.
Jon knows better than to ask for details. He just wraps an arm around him and holds him tight.
