A/N: Product of a meme.
She was so adored by everyone
When it came to looks she was next to none
But loved partying and having too much fun
…
Cause no one really saw her
It's such a shame, shame, shame
…
Had a lot to prove and so many to please
She's just somebody's daughter
Just looking for somebody to love her
—Homecoming Queen; Hinder
Stephen spent his time in the spotlight, reveling in the adoration of millions of strangers. He relished their love, soaked it in, thrived on it. It kept him going.
At the end of the day, though, when the cameras were off, the show was over for the day, and he was sitting alone in his too-big, empty house because his wife took their kids and left again, who did he have to turn to? Not his employees, not his fans—they didn’t know this side of him. Only one person did.
Stephen depended on Jon to see through him. He was the only one who knew his secrets, and he kept them safe—he kept him safe. It was crucial.
